Migration, displacement and diversity: the IRiS anthology is out

We are delighted to announce the publication of the IRiS anthology to mark the tenth anniversary of the University of Birmingham’s Institute for Research into Superdiversity (IRiS). A decade is an important milestone for a research centre. We wanted to take this opportunity to think collectively about past, present and future directions of research on migration and diversity.

The contributors are current and former IRiS staff members and affiliates, researchers, practitioners and activists we have encountered, and with whom we have worked and engaged at different times and places over the years. They come from a range of disciplines and professions, work on different aspects, spaces and times
of the migration phenomenon, and express a variety of scientific and political approaches. The chapters offer unique and concise insights into a decade of political, social and economic transformations. This has been a time when multiple interlocked crises have shaken the world and taken-for-granted alliances, when public awareness of the climate and environmental crisis has grown (although there is still plenty to do), and when wars, human rights violations, and poverty have driven millions of people to move both internally and across international borders.

Check out the Table of Contents of the anthology below.

The book is available on Amazon in hardback, paperback and ebook.
