States of ignorance: governing irregular migrants in Western Europe

This hybrid roundtable discusses the new book which focuses on one of the most complex and contested social issues of our day: the governance of irregular migrants. The author trace the evolution of state monitoring and control of irregular migrants from the 1960s to the present day to develop a theory of ‘state ignorance’, to which Birmingham scholars will critically engage in a lively and productive debate.
